Wonderduck and Den Beste are, for some reason, talking drag racing today. Den Beste has a bunch of great drag-racing facts like this one:
- One Top Fuel dragster’s 500-cubic-inch Hemi engine makes more horsepower than the first four rows at the Daytona 500.
Wow.
Also: Wow again.
Go read the rest. Amazing stuff.
I’d love to know how many MPG these things get. Actually, that wouldn’t make any sense, since I’m sure it’s less than one. Perhaps FPG (feet per gallon?) would be a more useful statistic?
Bethesda NEVER Understood Fallout
Let's count up the ways in which Bethesda has misunderstood and misused the Fallout property.
Quakecon 2011 Keynote Annotated
An interesting but technically dense talk about gaming technology. I translate it for the non-coders.
Twelve Years
Even allegedly smart people can make life-changing blunders that seem very, very obvious in retrospect.
Spider-Man
A game I love. It has a solid main story and a couple of really obnoxious, cringy, incoherent side-plots in it. What happened here?
Object-Disoriented Programming
C++ is a wonderful language for making horrible code.

I must say that I am thouroghly uninteresed
No problem. Check it out: I’ve coded some special features in this site that will enable you to not have to read it. If you try NOT clicking on the link in question you’ll NOT be taken so the site, and so you won’t have to read it.
The feature is still in beta, and it isn’t quite foolproof yet. For example, if you accidently click on the unwanted link, you will need to use the browser “back” button to come back here. If you don’t do this quickly enough, you may end up reading the uninteresting material. I’m still working on a solution to this.
And no fair stealing my idea: I plan to patent this.
Is there a direct link to that article? Sounds interesting, but I’m not spotting it immediately.
